The main regular activity at the Brisbane branch is the Tuesday night Meditation Class presented by Charles Topp. Charles is the founding Centre Director and a former ordained monk, who has led the group for more than thirty years. Three styles of meditation are explored during the course of the session:
The reflective exercises draw on the 'Stages of the Path' literature by Lama Tsong Khapa, the renowned 15th Century Tibetan master. This style of practice translates the Buddha's advice into a graded meditative process. This segment of the class forms a continuous cycle of about twenty five weeks. The emphasis of the meetings is on developing a relevant and sustainable personal meditation practice. Participants of all levels attend and there is opportunity for interactive discussion. Newcomers are welcome to join in at any point in the cycle and can attend as personal commitments allow. If you are interested, please feel welcome to come along. Start time is 7:30PM (sharp) and the core session will last about an hour. There is nothing you need to bring and entry is by donation. Plenty of comfortable chairs and a few cushions with mats are provided (timber floor). If you have a favourite cushion and mat, please bring that along. The venue is The Annex, Paddington Hall, 10 Moreton St, in Paddington. (By courtesy Communify) (Enter via the side entrance, through the gate to the right of the Hall) There is no charge, but your donation will help us cover costs.
